Until the end of 2020, our guests have a unique chance to get a glimpse of one of the most extraordinary collections in the whole world! Come and see the medicine collections of the Tartu University's Faculty of Medicine, with exhibits dating back as far as 1803.
It all began in 1890, when August Rauber, the renowned professor of medicine, started his collection. Although originally hailing from Germany, Rauber moved to Tartu in 1896 and started working here. Thanks to his thorough and careful work, the Faculty of Medicine can now proudly present a set of thousands of exhibits, of which the most notable and extraordinary are now on display in Science Centre AHHAA.
This exhibition shows you the human body from inside and explains how we really function. What makes it so special is that you can see the examples of how different diseases and pathologies effect our bodies. The collection is still growing and different exhibits are added every year.
The medical collections are located on the balcony of the hall of technology and access is free with the Science Centre ticket. We also offer guided tours for ages 11 and over (corresponding to the age of children in Form 5 in Estonian schools). Please note that tours are available from Wednesday to Sunday and on pre-order only. Book on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Attention! Photographing or filming the exhibition is not allowed. Children under the age of 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
